For about the past four or five weeks I have had my fingers crossed that on the evening of Friday 10th June the rain would hold off. Reason: Wickham Soiree Night
It worked - on a glorious evening, in the gardens of Beverley, the yearly event organised by Mike and the Wickham Square Events team went ahead as planned, and by general reactions a good night was had by all!
I would like to thank the bands. Firstly Swanmore College Jazz Band, this exceptional group of talented musicians demonstrated some real classy playing. Good tunes, tight sectional playing and some gifted solo work. A credit to the school and their music teachers they should all be proud of their achievments.
Secondly I would like to thank Ian Monnery and his band 'Crescendo'. This band has to be one of the finest I have both heard and had the pleasure of performing with. The rhythm section is as solid as a rock and the whole enthusiam of the final output is terrific. I would strongly recommend Crescendo for any type of musical function.
I spend six days a week at the shop, seven evenings a week repairing (thank you for the sympathy!!) which doesn't leave a lot of time to help organise a village soiree. I was pleased and very proud to help sponsor the Wickham Soiree but all credit needs to go to Mike and his team. Staging, power, tickets, advertising and all the other numerous things I can't even think of were done by him. Without his leadership things wouldn't have gone as smoothly as they did. Again many thanks.
Lastly I would like to thank everybody who bought a ticket and turned up, I will let you know where you kind donations have been spent sometime in the near future. Hope you had a very relaxing and enjoyable evening and I look forward to seeing you all at future events.
